Jewish Federation Jewish Experience Scholarship
The Jewish Experience Scholarship Fund is comprised of monies contributed by the Jewish Federation of Greater Orange County and some very generous private donors in our community.
We offer need-based scholarships to Jewish families residing in Greater Orange County for Jewish educational programs and experiences including Religious School/Hebrew School at Federation-affiliated synagogues, youth group conventions including USY, NFTY, BBYO, Young Judea, and Hadassah, and other Jewish Experiences upon approval by the Scholarship Committee.
We have a set amount of money budgeted each year, while the number of applicants varies from year to year. The amount of each scholarship depends on individual need as well as the number of children requesting scholarships. It is our goal to make scholarships available to all eligible applicants.
To be considered for a Jewish Experience scholarship, you must be an active member of the Jewish Federation of Greater Orange County. You can become a member of the Jewish Federation of Greater Orange County with a yearly donation of $36 or more to the Annual Campaign.
Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis.
Priority will be given to applications received by August 15th.
We must know up front the maximum amount that you are able to contribute. This amount should be based on the child, parents and other relatives who are willing to contribute.
Our communities are built on the generosity of every family and individual. While some are able to contribute monetarily, other contributions, such as volunteering time or skills, are equally valuable. We want to lift up the contributions that your family is able to make to your Jewish community. For that reason, we ask that each recipient and/or their family identify one way that they will actively contribute to their Jewish communities. Some projects you might consider are: older students volunteering at religious school; a parent joining the school board or committee; chairing a fundraiser for your synagogue or school; volunteering your skills such as graphic design, cooking, art, music, gardening, etc. at your synagogue or school. Please work with your rabbi or school director to identify the needs of your community and the unique ways that you and your family can help.
If you have questions please call the Federation at 845-562-7860.
Applications must provide complete information for scholarship consideration.
